Backlinks XXX Review Part 2: Course Breakdown and Module #1

by admin on August 7, 2013

According to the salespage of Backlinks XXX, there are four modules. As you log in to the member’s areas, you are required to watch a 3 minutes introductory video. In the videos, Glen talks about what to expect and how to use the course. For most modules there are video lessons, though transcription is not included. Each videos are made private with different passwords. Glen also said that the course works for almost everyone: whether you are running massive campaigns, or you are a beginners with tight budget.

At first glance, I am not too thrilled with the layout of the course. I prefer table of contents with links to each page. With Backlinks XXX, you have to scroll down to each page to find the link to next module. Also, I’d appreciate if Glen could include transcription of each video. Having said that, I quickly browse through the whole course. The contents look solid and I can’t wait to start!

Backlinks XXX Module #1 Review
Module #1 is about keyword research and website case study #1. If you already have keywords or key phrases in mind, you can skip this section and study the back linking lessons instead (module #2 & #3). In this section, Glen starts of talking talking about different types of keywords. According to him, there are two type of keywords: volume and passion. Here Glen teaches you how to decide which type of keywords you should be focusing on, though he and his partner have success with both type of niche.

Then, he introduces a few website to do your market research. You may already be using some of these websites. In the video lesson, Glen also shows you how to get keywords idea with a free keyword tool.

Note: according to reliable source,  this keyword tool will be replaced by an advanced version very soon. Hopefully Glen will update this video according to the change!

Tip: if you want to make some quick bucks, promote new on-demand products – before they become known to most affiliate marketers ! Now let me explain: when a new product comes out, it takes a few months for most keywords tools to gather the data. If you act fast and promote the product before everyone else, you will be able to rank your site quickly (as there’s virtually no competition) and make money easily (see my case study here). So pay attention to TV, magazines, trade shows, shopping channels, and even late night commercials for new product ideas.

I like that he shows you a way to decide if you should pursue a keyword. Some keywords have “shelf life”, particularly trend related keywords. The last thing you want to do is to build a website around keywords not many people are interested in! Case in point, “fifa 2010” was heavily searched in the summer of 2010. It’s 2013 now, and the search volume have dropped tremendously. If you need more examples, think “iphone 2” & “London Olympic”.

In this section, you will also find video #2 which is about competition analysis. Glen recommended two service to study your competitors. The first service cost less than $50/mo for average use, to few thousands monthly for massive campaigns. Thankfully, you can sign up for free option (with limited data report). The second service he mentioned is free though. In this video, Glen teaches you how to gauge the competition before you pursue the keyword. If your budget allows, he recommended two other services for more in-depth analysis. Both services cost less than $100 per month for average webmasters.

The second part of module #1 is the first case study. The website has only few pages and less than one hundreds backlinks. Still, it manage to outrank a big authority site. For the exact search term (a semi competitive keyword), Glen said the site ranks #2 though it’s #3 from my computer. This is my favorite part of module #1 as Glen actually shows a solid proof to back up his claim! I went ahead to study the link profiles of this sites and I can attest Glen did not use shady technique to achieve high rank.

Module #1 ends with a video that teaches you how to gather relevant keyphrases and keywords.

Summary: overall I am happy with my purchase of Backlinks XXX course. In the next part of the reviews, I am going to review the backlinking modules. I can’t wait to learn Glen’s technique as backlinking is something I totally suck at!
