You’ve probably seen Anthony Morrison on late night TV’s commercials, peddling
get rich quick money-making programs. According to the claims of the official website, Mr. Morrison is a young millionaire who found his wealth via internet marketing. The good news is: you can replicate his success. All you need to do is to shell out $19.95 to buy his course “Advertising Profits from Home”. And, he is so generous that he’s giving away the following bonuses: 3 Steps to Fast Profits DVD, Custom Built Affiliate Website and a new book called “Hidden Millionaires.” Oh wait, you must pay $9.95 for shipping and handling too.
Now the question is: Does Advertising Profits from Home work? Will you make money?
Here’s the short answer: maybe not. To begin with, it’s nothing but a basic affiliate marketing course. Many reputable e-commerce sites (including Amazon and Walmart) offer affiliate programs to boost sales. If you are a website owner, you can apply to become an affiliate. Then, you promote and advertise their products on your website. When someone follows your links to buy something, you earn a commission.
The major problem with Advertising Profits from Home is: the content is rehashed and too basic. It does not contain sufficient info to help you to succeed in affiliate marketing. In fact, you can find a lot of similar information online, for free.
Another highlight of Advertising Profits from Home is the free website. What you get is a generic shopping site hosted on the server of company behind Advertising Profits from Home. And, you don’t have to pay for monthly fee and service fee. I did a simple search and found the following example sites (see screenshots):
I don’t want to be rude, but these sites are laughable. They are not unique, and provide little to no value to the visitors. Hence, the visitors are not likely to buy anything!
Also, “free website” is not such a good deal because of the restrictions:
-You can’t edit the contents;
-You don’t own the domain. If Anthony Morrison goes out of business, your websites will be gone. All your “advertising” efforts will be going down the drain.
-You can’t decide on the theme and design;
In short, you have very little control of the website, and this is going to put a damper on your earning potentials.
The $3995 Upsell
Of course, Anthony Morrison will not leave a newbie like you hanging.
The course will lead you to a seminar which is basically a pitching fest. During the seminar, Mr. Morrison will pitch an expensive Adwords course at “merely’ $3995, plus $20 monthly fee. On top of that, you need to pay Google Adwords to buy advertising space promoting credit card offers. When a visitor sign up for the credit card offer, you receive a small commission.
When done right, Google Adwords is an ideal way to generate traffic and leads to any business. However, you don’t need to pay few thousands of hard-earned money to learn the rope. Just head over to Google Adwords center online and read as much as you can:
Mind you, it’s very expensive to place credit card related ads on Adwords. It’s not uncommon to spend few dollars just for one click. If you are not careful, you can lose money fast!
Who is Anthony Morrison? I spent some hours online to look for more information of Anthony Morrison. All I find is a bunch of complaints (on his business practice and expensive seminar) across various forums. Occasionally I come across glowing reviews, but they appear to be written by the affiliate of his company.
It’s unclear if Anthony Morrison operates outside internet marketing niche. Does he make most of his money selling dreams and teaching people how to make money online? Who knows?
I ask this because I know legitimate guru would first achieve success in niche market, before they teach others how to earn a living online. They are not afraid to showcase their successful sites and have earning proof to back up the claims. Alas, I don’t see these traits in Anthony Morrison.
